Verizon Wireless Blackberry Storm 2 Review
Blackberry Storm 2
Verizon Wireless
Handset Review
Verizon Wireless and Blackberry have been working very hard to fix some of the problems that were associated with the 1st generation Blackberry Storm. Blackberry has released the second generation touch screen phone known as the Blackberry Storm 2 and will be running on the Verizon Wireless network. The Storm 2 is packed with both new hardware and software features that make this particular phone one of the best blackberry’s out on the market today.
Here are the features that I feel make the Blackberry Storm 2 stand out against it’s competition. First and foremost the Storm 2 is much faster than the Storm 1. The Storm 2 also comes with Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) built right into the phone so if your data coverage is weak and you know a Wi-Fi network is nearby, you can just connect to that network. The Storm 2 also has a new technology called “Sure Press” which allows the screen to stop “Clicking” when your phone is powered off or in sleep mode. Also I found this phone to have one longest lasting batteries out there. I could use the Blackberry Storm 2 for at least 3 days nonstop before I had to recharger it. The Design was very similar to the original blackberry except for a few minor changes. First off the Storm 2 is just a little bit thinner and lighter then the Storm 1. Also RIM has replaced the “Hinged Battery Door” with a standard battery door.
Here are the features that I feel are negative towards the blackberry Storm 2. I am not sure that consumers really like the SurePress technology. I like the premise behind the “Clickable” screen but I found it was still just as hard to use as any other on screen keyboard. I also noticed that their was a slight lag from the time that I provided input on to the screen, to the time that the phone actually registered that input. This is not a big problem, but it can be annoying in times when timing is critical and you have to access the phone or contacts applications. I would like to see an application or a system setting to lock the “Auto Rotation” feature for the Blackberry Storm so that if you are reading an email on your phone lets say on a boat or plan; your phone will not rotate with each movement. I also felt that having 256MB of flash memory was just not enough for the phone to run smoothly. The very last thing that I found, was that the Brightness on the Storm 2 was really no to bright, so I hope in the future Blackberry can correct that issue.
The Bottom line here is that the Blackberry Storm 2 is a really good touch screen phone and an even better Blackberry. If you are looking for a reliable phone that is backed by the nation’s largest 3G network, then the Blackberry Storm is the way to go.
